Lake Frassino is a small glacial basin located in the southern area of Lake Garda, in Peschiera del Garda. It covers an area of approximately 80 hectares, with a maximum depth of 15 meters. The lake is characterized by a delicate balance between open waters, reed beds, and wetland shore environments, making it an important natural reservoirfrom both an ecological and hydrogeological perspective.
Lake Frassino is recognized as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and a Special Protection Area (SPA) within the European Natura 2000 network, thanks to its unique ecological value.
Surrounded by reed beds, wet meadows, and woodlands, the lake is an important resting and nesting area for over 200 bird species, including many migratory and rare birds. Among the most significant are the ferruginous duck, bittern, great crested grebe, purple heron, and marsh harrier.

Lake Frassino is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps”.
